Ted

is a bear - mine, to be exact.  She was rather old and very worn; my mother patched and stitched where she could, and that was a very long time ago, as she has been dead for over 30 years. Ted has sat forlornly on my bedside locker when she has not been attending to my children or their children who I think proved the last straw. I think Mum would approve of Ted's transformation.  If you are on Facebook you may be able to see the state Ted was in and the photos Sam took as she remade my not-so-furry friend.  Sam makes gorgeous bears of all types and they are for sale.  She is also Hannah's mum and Hannah is my youngest's love.  Just keeping it all in the family LOL.  And yes, this is quilt related as Ted now sits on our bed and looks after the log cabin quilt when we are not around....

Hi Sam!

Blinkley Wood Bears

Thanks, Sam! xxx

and more or less up to date now....

I love it when our members share with others - quilters are generous people as a rule (though you may get 6 or 7 different opinions as to how to do something LOL). Elaine had hexagon piecing lessons with Jane as she has decided to make one of the blocks from Jane's seaside quilt. Lesley made a quilt a while ago (you can probably see it if you page back through the blog - realised that I usually forget to tag the posts which makes it harder, sorry) and Steph has now made it to suit her decor.
isn't it fab?!!

Rosemary's second quilt - she stitched in  the ditch and also tied it at the corners

This is mine.  I made the blocks a long time ago and we all spent an awful lot of time fiddling around with it, trying different settings.  And I labelled every single block except that somewhere something went wrong and I am not sure that they all ended up where they should have been.  It looks a bit odd because it's a reflection in the huge mirrors in our room at Denmead - well we don't like to look at ourselves in that mirror, but it is good for showing off some things.....

Anyway, after I had put all the blocks together I put it in a bag along with some backing, and the left overs, as one sometimes does, and promptly forgot about it.  Also, as one does, I found it while ferreting about looking for something else and decided to load it onto my frame, which is another thing that was sitting around getting in the way and generally not being much use.  Talk about procrastination!  The whole quilt is done with meandering - stippling, call it what you will - that squiggly pattern and squiggle it certainly does.  It's the first quilt I had quilted on the frame and that requires a whole different mindset so it's definitely a practice quilt and I will have to find some more to continue the practice.  However, I had forgotten how enormous the quilt was, and abandoned the idea of any further borders.  It's now on our bed and lovely and cosy to sleep under.

A special post for Sam

.....who never seems to think what she makes is good enough.  However, we all beg to differ and as Sam doesn't like machines much she stitches her wonderful creations together by hand and then quilts them by hand as well.  This all takes time and we are continually amazed by how swiftly she manages to put everything together.

Sam's glorious Disappearing Nine Patch

closer...can you see the stars?  see below if not...

Sam made a doll - she made up the pattern, the dress and knickers, the lot. Lucky child who gets this one :)

Sam has been asked to make a banner for Cubs or Scouts - looking forward to see what she thinks up!

Kim, Norma, Wilma and Wendy and some anons

Not that they are really anonymous, its just that I have forgotten to label some of my photos.  Somebody will correct me as to who made what and I will be able to alter the photo captions, I hope.

Kim's - Sentimental Stitches and Just Takes 2 produced a sampler inspired by the Infinite Variety exhibition at the Armories in New York.  Kim has made some of the blocks and they are beautiful....

Norma and David had a special anniversary.....

Wilma's charity quilt - somebody will love this one!

Not sure whose this is - possibly Linda? Jelly Roll Race quilt, I think

A block from Jane's quilt but who made it?  It was going to be a cushion cover, I think.....

Wilma's quilt finished :)

Wendy  tried free machining her stars in the border - aren't they great!

A couple of L's

Linda who sews away at home and then surprises us when she brings in what she has been up to!  And Lesley who produces gorgeous work for our delectation and often as gifts for some very fortunate people...
Lesley's beautiful quilt for aforementioned fortunate couple.  Very difficult to see the quilting on it - she put a lot of thought into each motif.  Further down there are some pics of the back in which you might be able to see a little more of the quilting.  A lovely piece

Linda appeared with these one evening and spent most of it (with various helpers?) moving the flowers around until it was to her satisfaction.  It is really quite difficult to avoid similar fabrics and some colours jump out more than others.  However, it was finally done, each block and row labelled and taken home to sew up.  Looking forward to seeing the finished article.

These are the pictures of some of the blocks on Lesley's quilt from the back

Jane

is a prolific quilter as we all know, and fearless when it comes to trying out new or different ideas.  She has made a quilt of the planets for a lucky person with a room which has a Space theme and no, it is not a little boy. She has quilted the names of the planets and various orbits.  Enjoy.....

The 2 C's...

well, there are more of us C's than just 2! Mostly by Christine :-
A pre-printed, pre-quilted panel which was supposed to be a waistcoat and was given to us in a bag of fabric.  I tried  binding totally by machine and it worked.  Such a quick method!

Christine added lace to her edges .....

and quilted a B in one...

and an S in the other - lucky little girls.....

Christine's new project

Apologies

My abject apologies for the apparently long hiatus on this blog.  Unfortunately a post which I wrote and thought I'd published doesn't seem to have gone through.   Blogger had some issues which quite went over my head as of course, all my posts published, didn't they? Well, evidently not, so will start again..... Lots of pictures so will just get them up as soon as possible so those of you who grace our pages hoping to actually SEE something, can do so.....
