Quilts in February 2017 so far.....

Lesley's completed table runner

She has used her fancy stitching to add interest

These two are for my twin grandchildren - they just needed the bindings sewn on.  They are for bigger beds than they are currently in.

Both quilts were made from Junior Bed size duvet covers and a lovely soft sheet for the white.  They were backed with a double duvet cover which was different on each side, and quilted sideways with a Janome 6500P on a Grace Pro Frame with Hobbs Polydown for the wadding. Cotton fabrics are wonderful for quilts, but sometimes there isn't the money to purchase what you need, or the only way to get what you want is to use something else.  Purists may feel that it does matter, but my view is whatever you can afford, and/or whatever floats your boat....there is room for everyone :)

Quilts January 2017

Oh well, these photos seem to have decided on a different sequence; however, I try to not meddle with Blogger! This is Polly's, I think and is 4 blocks of Dutchmans Puzzle coloured to create pinwheels - clever

Lynne's centre.  I love how they all turn out differently.

Linda's petals which, as you can see, she is handquilting

Jane's finished top, or flimsy

This quilt, and the one below, were one big quilt which size wise for Project Linus is not great, so Jane unpicked it across the middle and created two.  The wadding was donated by the the Warm Company who are great supporters of Project Linus, Jane provided the backing I think, Janet the binding, and she quilted it - J S Longarm Quilting

two different quilting designs - toys

..and rabbits

Another of Janet's quilts

with the most beautiful quilting design

this one we've shown previously, now complete

with another pretty design

This is the quilting of the quilt at the bottom.  No idea why Blogger put the pic down there, but I am not going to fiddle

Kim's completed round

set off beautifully by this little fillet of a border

Excuse Sarah's elbow - finished quilt for her mum ready to go....(and well received, apparently)

No, Sarah has not gone all peculiar, but we had to put her BOM middle on something that would show up what she was doing.  Sarah has put wadding behind this one now, so that when it is finished there will be a double layer behind the centre which will show it off.  Neat, eh?

This is Janet's sampler quilt which she quilted above.  Janet is a meticulous worker and made an awful lot of these blocks until she got fed up.  There are quite a few kicking around in her sewing studio, I believe.....

December 2016 - lots to look at!

Jane's Country Medallion quilt, adapted to become square

Pretty colours

Delicate middle.  You would not have thought that such a relatively simple change would make such an impact on the quilt as a whole.....
Lynne is making some little quilts....

Jackie at it again with stars

and changing it up with this stunning two colour one for one of her daughters

sooo pretty

Lynne's Christmas garland

with all these lovely little hearts and gingerbread people and cute little cone....

Another of Chris's star quilts for her grandsons

quilted by Janet J S Longarm Quilting

More stars - Jackie or Janet I think

Another one of Janet's prior to quilting

Lesley's table runner - an elegant take on the festive season

Kim working her way round....

My centre - could do better, but it's been a long time lol

Siân's beautiful doily quilt; they look as though they might be more like the dressing table sets you used to have..

but whatever they are, this is an innovative piece of work...

I think this might be the one she took to Australia on a recent trip and it was quilted whilst she was there

Flange round the edges - nice touch

..and the back

Jackie's husband made this

He did well; I think he was lucky to get it back.  We all fell in love with it...

Kim again - next round

Sarah made this piece for her mother

Love the frames and the lace

and the ribbons she has used.  Sarah thinks out of the box more often than not; it is always interesting to see what she will come up with

This is Janet's.  She has an awful lot of them to make, and is buttonholing them as well.  It will be beautiful when it is finished.  Janet got the idea from a rather old book about patchwork quilts and adapted it slightly.
