Very remiss of me, I know but busy busy, lots of personal stuff I wont go into here but our lives have been somewhat turned upside down over the past few weeks. It will take a while to get back into the old rhythms, perhaps never. Still, plenty going on at the Breakaways as you can see - wonder whether blogger will put 'em where they should be .......

Quilt Music
Melody Johnson is a fibre artist. I have always loved her extremely colourful quilts and seen some at the FoQ in Birmingham in the past.
Her technique of choice has been fusing in the past though I think she has now gone back to piecing as well, as a sort of challenge to herself.
However, if you go here http://fibermania.blogspot.com/2012/01/quilt-music.html then you will see one of her quilts.
The lovely thing about this quilt is (if you like modern music) that the owners commissioned a piece of music inspired by the quilt and in the blogpost there is a Youtube video of the quilt and music. Nice development, eh?

A ditty from Dawn
We have had an interesting time over the past few months with the committee and management of the community centre where we meet, culminating in what I think is the rudest letter from a manager I think I have ever received, in or out of big business. I am amazed that the Chairperson is prepared to let that sort of letter out under the centre's name.
However, our members are not just some silly little ladies who sit and sew - all are hard working, intelligent and some in very demanding jobs. One member of the medical profession who is also a published writer dashed off this ditty which raised a wry smile :-

Dear Sir;
Our room is too small
and you don't care at all,
that we're paying too much for the space.
We wrote you a letter,
considerably better,
than the one you replied with in haste.
You may think of us quaintly,
but grammer is saintly
and your letter had several mistakes.
Consider an alliance,
don't demand our compliance,
and proof read for goodness sake.
Regards
The Breakaways.
